Remicade and Fertility

Wed, May 19, 2010 1:34 PM

Hi everyone.  I was diagnosed with Crohn's 12 years ago and have done well on 6MP.  I am about to start Remicade infusions and am wondering if there are any issues related to fertility?  My wife and I want to start a family and I can't find any solid information on Remicade and men's fertility.

Hi, I've been on remicade for almost a year now and no bad side effects or with fertility the only thing related to fertility or sex would be I noticed my "Sex Drive" Has decreased due to remicade but fertility wise is fine, I was checked because I am getting married soon and we want to try and have kids within a year or two so I went ahead and got it all checked out to tell my fiance everything! :) Hope this helps! Remicade is awesome!

hi nate,
i know remicade comes with a ton of risk factors, but i have never felt better or been healthier in my 30 yrs.  my wife and i started trying last january, and a month ago we found out that we have twins.  still to early to check for most things i guess- (the first downs syndrome test is scheduled in 4 weeks), but strong healthy heartbeats at least.
in the process of fertility treatment, they checked my sperm as well.  i checked out just fine.  so it's worked for us.  i firmly believe our kids' health is in god's hands overall anyway.  a pastor once told me "it's god's disease too" which was helpful.  he's taken care of me for 30 yrs. and i know he'll do the same for my family.
whatever you decide, others like me are there with you.
