Hi! I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at 14 and I am currently 16. I recently have been going through a flare up and my disease went from mild UC to moderate UC. It seems as though no matter what I eat, I still have to use the bathroom. I've tried the BRAT Diet & I haven't been eating meat or eating/drinking dairy. Should I just eat whatever I want since I get the same effect no matter what? Are there any food recommendations that have controlled your UC symptoms?

The vicious cycle was in my opinion, a waste of time, monry, and hope. There was nothi,g about the concept that helped me and the recipes were so bleek and bland, it made it all the more depressing. So I disagree completely and would love to learn of any other books out there that actually provide valuable nutrition ideas for those who suffer from Crohns.
Hi Desiree,
Since you are a teenager please discuss this with your parents. I know many doctors do not follow this protocol so you have to eat what is right for you. Buy the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle. It is all about Crohns and Colitis and how to eat healthy and in some cases put you in remission. Basically you eat non processed foods, no dairy except homemade yogurt, no sugar, no cereal etc.
I am doing well in 4 years No meds. You must do that part with the doctors help and your parents. Have your mom read the book it is amazing.
I did lose weight in the beginning so you have to be careful. But is does work.
Good things to eat: fruit in moderation, turkey burgers,no bread, veggies, homemade yogurt, very tart so I have to put it in smoothies. No milk. water, water
beef with veggies,
fish,
basically nothing from a bag, box or carton that is premade. No ketchup and jelly etc.
Website that is helpful Wellebees. Has food for IBD.
Let me know

Hi Desiree, I have been studying natural dieting for 12 years. I have given diet tips to my friend's mom who has colitis. She has been feeling much better. I can give you a list of foods to try out. In order to give you what foods would be best I would need to know your body type.
Email me at thepathisyours@gmail.com and i can help you out.
Talk to you soon.
