I am on my second round of prednazone....after going right back into a flare after my first round. I am doing the GAPS diet....it worked for me a few years ago...I had the best colonoscopy results I'd had in 25 years - no inflammation.
Right now it hard as tapering off prednazone again, and fearful will slip back into another flare. Another complication is also recently diagnosed with Hashimotos and haven't got my thyroid meds straightened out yet. And none of that can be done til prednazone out of my body as it masks everything.
So I'm at intro phase of GAPS diet, considering doing the AutoImmune Paleo diet - very similar...both diets require majorly restricting many foods OUT - which I've already done - and slowly, one by one adding in a food and see if it causes symptoms. I cannot experiment with adding in foods however - cause again, the prednazone masks all symptoms...have to wait until off the prednazone.
Also taking imuron...hoping it works for me and will have kicked in by time I'm off prednazone...anyone have experiences with imuron? gaps or autoimmune paleo diets?
I'm also going to start doing acupuncture and taking some chinese herbs...I've heard good things about chinese medicine and ulcerative colitis.
Hope all are well.

Oh just saw this post. I'm really loving your motivation to tackle this dis-ease. Just curious how are your symptoms of inflammation currently while tapering off the prednisone? Flaring/bleeding etc? Wondering if you can use that as a marker to start adding other foods or methods to your diet? I know theres some food plans I'd like to try once my BMs are make to some normalcy, but till then treading very lightly :p
