Yogurt

Tue, January 29, 2019 7:03 PM

I have had some success in treating diarrhea and cramping with homemade yogurt (not the store bought kind).  I use yogurt starter from GI ProHealth, and mix 1/8 tsp of starter with 6 cups of whole milk.  I then put the mixture in a yogurt maker and let it run for 24 hours in order to convert all the lactose.  I eat four servings per day.

I avoid the store bought yogurt because it invariably contains thickeners such as carageenan, which is bad for people with Crohn's Disease, and because it is not as fresh as the homemade kind and therefore has less active cultures.
