I have had Crohns going on three years and have not been able to lose weight and I have a huge appetite. I take Asacol and it does not list hunger as a side effect. Has anyone else experience being hungry even after you eat?

I have always been overweight, but it's out of control now. After bowel resection and heavy doses of prednisone, I have been on remicade and continue to gain.
Really need advice from others with same issue.

Thanks Wendy,
I have taken Asacol from the beginning and then tried Lialda and I got stomach pains and decided to go back to Asacol. It is just so frustrating. I drink tons of water and try to keep an eye on my salt. I think it is an up hill battle. I am grateful I do not have Crohns in my small intestine like some people which can cause nutrition problems but darn getting pudgy stinks.

Thank you for your answer. I thought it was only me and I just had always been smaller and I hoped after the predinisone I would drop the weight and even went on diet pills through the doctor and I still gained weight. I have read pharmacology and it said Asacol does not have it side affect of weight gain.. Getting older I am sure does not help.

I have not taken Asacol but I have taken Lialda and you could not keep me away from the table. I also retained water while on Lialda.
I have no wonderful answers or any fixes except watch your sodium intake and drink fluids to flush the stuff out.
Sending you hugs!
Wendy

Yes, I have had this problem as well. Even worse with prednisone - with which hunger is a side effect.
I have issues with being hungry all the time as well - it's as if I never feel full. Then I feel bad because I am overweight. Be careful it is an endless cycle.....
