Dr Fuhrman "eat for health" diet?

Mon, February 21, 2011 4:44 PM

I've had colitis for over a decade and went through a bad flare for the past 7 months. I'm "close" to remission, but don't want to go through it again. I went to a nutritionist who recommends I follow Dr. Fuhrman's "Eat for Health" diet - which is slightly warmed juice (no pulp/fiber), soups and well roasted/steamed veggies with sauces that are not oil-based. And no salt, sugar, grains, etc...

The idea is to flood the system with high nutrition/low calorie foods. I'm already vegan so it won't be too tough for me to try, but has anyone else had success with this diet? He also has me taking VSL#3, plus DHA/EPA and glutamine.

Many of the self help IBD diets tend to be low carb and high in nutrient dense foods.  Sounds like you should do good.

Best of luck!

Thanks! I've been veg for 13 years, so that part I'm good with. It's giving up bread and pasta that I'll struggle with! But, it's got to be better than steroids...
