I understand your feeling about the psych visit and yet more meds....crazy. Though my family isn't vegan, we have had issues with weight loss w/my daughter and have had to adjust her day-to-day diet. One of the things that has helped is eating smaller, more frequent meals, with a snack in-between. Instead of your doc recommending the psych., they should have recommended a nutritionist/dietician....that's what ours did to figure out ways to add more calories to Lizzies diet. Some things are simple.....she isn't lactose intolerant, so I make her a "Mama's special shake". By the time I'm done with it, we are talking 700 calories...ice cream, whole milk, cream, carnation instant breakfast, protein powder, banana, sometimes cookies. I'm sure if you think about it, you too would be able to add in calories without compromising your vegan lifestyle. All natural creamy peanut butter, olive oil, using high cal/fat dressings to add another dimension to your everyday foods, also indulge in some home made cookies/snacks (I'm sure vegan ones are achievable). You can do this. Good luck.
