Hi:

After trying all the diets out there and suffering a terrible UC flare that landed me in the hospital  (with excessive diarrhea & bleeding) I discovered this: Vinegar is my UC trigger.  I was eliminating foods based on several books on the subject including the SCD.  But my detailed food journal proved that vinegar is my #1 enemy. I have since eliminated salad dressings, ketchup etc (all condiments) and read all labels. Once I eliminated vinegar and malt ( Read " An Extraordinary Power to Heal), I started on the road to recovery.  I eat healthy: some fruit, lots of vegetables & whole grains. I can tolerate small amounts of organic, plain yogurt, organic whole grains crackers, healthy fish, turkey & chicken. But I have eliminated sugar.  My problem is yeast over-growth which lead to my UC. I had a horrible diet growing up and I paid the price later on.  But keep the faith- there is hope with eating healthy whole foods.
