I would love to know"
1. Is anyone an athlete (or enjoys engaging in cardio exercse on a regular basis), experienced magnesium deficiency due to a combination of GI losses (caused by IBD) exercise and/or stress.
2. If so, what were your symptoms of magnesium deficiency?
3. Did you have trouble getting a doctor to run an accurate test to determine you had the deficiency? Note: standard blood labs only measure the "circulating" magnesium in the bloodstream. These tests do not measure the intracellular levels of magnesium in the body which are a true indicator of your mag levels.
4. Did your standard blood lab return a "normal range" result but your "gut" told you there was a deficiency based on your symptoms.
5. How did you get treated for the deficiency if you are unable to tolerate oral magnesium. Did your doctor treat you based on your symptoms?
6. Has anyone had a magnesium IV to correct this deficiency safely?

Yes. I found out not through my regular GI but through a Holistic Doctor.
She told me that many IBD sufferers have low Magnesium levels. She did discover it through bloodwork. My issues were the following: poor immune reponse to colds/flu, irregular heartbeat and fatigue. I recently doubled my dosage and am seeing gradual improvements.

For anyone who needs magnesum and can't tolerate oral magnesium you can put epsom salts in the bath or use magnesium cream. Google Myhill for more information.
