Going to see a dietician/nutritionist

Mon, August 08, 2011 3:55 PM

I'm going to see a nutrition expert in my area but I don't even know why.  I guess that sounds rather defeatist but I just can't imagine how it's going to be helpful or what she can say to help me.  I saw one when I was young (around 1992-94) and I don't really remember much of what it was for.  Now I am struggling so much I thought, hey that'd be a great idea, but now I realize I don't even know why I'm going to the appt.  What do you say to an LDN/RD?  Sorry for rambling, I just feel like I've already tried everything and... well, anyway.  I hope everyone is having a good day.

Since it has been a while since you saw a nutritionist, it is probably a good idea to go back for a refresher.   I remember when my daughter was first diagnosed our visits were invaluable.   I had thought we were eating healthy, whole, organic food and our lifestyle was perfect.  How wrong I was.   It had turned out we were consuming way too much fiber for her little system (she was 4 at the time).  So, she helped "retrain" me on best foods for the gut and ones to steer clear of.

When Lizzie was having an awful time maintaining her weight, she also helped with ideas to increase her daily caloric intake.

I hope your visit goes well and they are able to put you back on track so you feel well again.
