I am really craving CHOCOLATE or something. I have made the homemade Pumpkin Puree and that was really good, I have tried some muffins etc but they taste like almonds and I really want something that will satisfy my cravings. What does everyone do? I know I am not the only one that has cravings. Especially with the Holidays approaching. I usually don't get huge cravings but I am now.
Give me some suggestions PLEASE!!! THANKS

I have to really watch what I eat. I love chocolate too. The dark especially. It's heart healthy to boot. But, of course we can't eat it all day every day. I sometimes put chocolate Yoplait whips in the freezer. When I want something chocolatey, I reach for one. It has the consistancy of ice cream but with a tang. It's delicious. And, yogurt has the good bacteria. And we all know how good that is for our digestive tract, especially for IBD sufferers.

I like to take 2 avocados, 100% cocoa powder (about 1 cup) and honey to taste, sometimes add a splash of vanilla and toss it in the food processor. It makes a delicious mousse and works very well for chocolate cravings (coming from someone who would sit down and eat an entire box of chocolates for fun). It goes really well with raspberries or mint leaves.

I stash chocolate gelato in the back of the freezer and feel a tsp or 2 just perfect during the "cravings".
Another thing I do is make a protein shake. Mix 1 tsp cocoa powder w/small amt of stevia w/hot water to make paste. add tsp coconut oil (I store in fridge) and blend in blender, then add 6 oz egg whites and stir (if you use the blender, it will be too frothy).

SCD French cream with coconut oil/cocoa/honey or grated 90% chocolate and ripe banana slices works well. Just be careful not to let too much dairy and sweet food hold up progress on scd.
In the beginning when I had to be especially careful of dairy/sweetened food I found that thick soup made from meat stock and pureed vegetables really helped (don't skim off the fat, just mix it in).
There's a really good ibd journal article linked on this site this month. It concludes that the right fats (conjugated linoleic acid and omega 3) should help ibd and also states that too much linoleic acid (from veg oils) in western diets could be promoting development of ibd.
I think the right fats are a key to reducing cravings and also towards healing. My feeling is that reducing carbs protects us but the right fats allow or promote healing.
