I thought you could you use the egg whites for smoothies, but are you stating use egg yols for smoothies instead?  Maybe not at all!  Love berries and I have no problems with that.  I can use high speed blend on the blueberries cause I love them.  You have been such a big help.  Thank you so much.  I am getting the glutamine powder for smoothies.  Hope it puts on some weight.  Where do you get your coconut milk from?

I thought you were suppose to stay away from berries but I love blueberries so I guess as long as it is well blended what the heck.  It sounds great.  I bought some egg white protein powder yesterday from health store so maybe I can use that.  Do you know of any that can put on a little weight too!  I am trying to follow the Breaking the Vicious Cycle but if it is too hard for me what else could I do!  I find getting large quanity of nuts for nut flour expensive and the yogurt that you make well I am lazy when it comes to that.  I do try her recipes but not all of them.  I hate not drinking any kind of soy or milk for calcium and wonder if that is good to eliminate.  Confused again but I will try the coconut milk I ordered without guam.

My favorite smoothie is from one of Dr. Perricone's books about inflammatory diet and staying young.   It is made with 1/3 cup blueberries, pureed w/1tsp virgin coconut oil (i like it solid, stored in fridge), and shake 6oz egg whites.   It is full of protein and good nutrients that are inflammatory fighters.

Hope you enjoy!

I also make the same shake, replacing the blueberries w/1tsp cocoa pwdr and a pinch of stevia.   Good for when you want a choc fix (though I know not legal on all the various diets).

Okay, but now I want to know in this Beating the Viciuos Cycle what kinds of breakfast recipes can I use that taste good.  I did get the Ghee yesterday and had to order the coconut milk you suggested because I cannot find it anywhere here.  I also now have a nutritionist at the Vitamin Cottage in Pueblo to help me as well.  She suggested some good things with food and supplements to take.  She helped me a lot and has heard of the book.  I nned better breakfast recipes.  Someone help!!!  Even more smoothie ideas would be great...

I have found doctors just know much about what to eat for UC and what not to eat so I do this on my on.  I will check for the butter today at the health food store and if I can't find it I will stick to the good butter but not use a lot.  I do have coconut oil.  I have found a product that sells coconut milk without gums or sugars and ordered that.  It is in a can but does not have those additives which is good.  I ordered their almond flour as well.  I read this online and a lot of people use this.  Wish me luck.  I probable will not use it much but every now and then.  Also you stated peanut butter is bad for you I think but in 'Breaking the Vicious Cycle they use peanut butter don't they!

Stick to butter, coconut oil and other safe fats from animals. Alan is absolutely right. The scd book mentions some of the good fats and says to use butter liberally  but doesn't emphasize the importance nearly enough. I now think the carbohydrate aspect of scd gives protection from a poor diet (and many effects of ibd) but the right fats are essential for real healing.

Fat metabolism is critical to health. Last winter in the UK we were given a warning not to put liquid oils in bird food but to give them hard animal fats. Oil in their diet does not keep their feathers waterproof and they become hypothermic. There are also requests not to feed ducks on bread in many public places as too much causes nutritional deficiencies. Does make me wonder why we are looking after the birds better than ourselves.

I have the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle and it states to eat butter not margarine.  Magarines contains added milk solids and/whey.  Cultured butter, if available, is highly recommended.  Never mentioned Ghee but I will check at health food store tomorrow.  thanks

Where do you get this grass fed Ghee?  Also, my Doctor is very good and never said that.  I do like my physician asst. but sometimes they do not know enough.  Cannot afford to go to another doctor.  Have gone too many doctors already and sticking to one right now and getting this under control is major!
