CROHN WITH CONSTIPATION

My 8 years old have been diagnosted last april with crohn disease ,also she have reumathoid artritis since age 2, nobody said anything about diet other than to increase her intake of protein and calcium, I'm not sure what kind of diet to follow because her problem is constipation.Any suggestion?

  Sorry to hear your daughter is having so much trouble. You did not mention what meds she is on. Maybe that is causing some of the constipation. Try things naturally, I know bananas and cheese tend to bind you up so dont give her those since she is not going. Did you check with her doctor? I would try prune juice and make sure she is drinking enough water. Check out the SCD Diet (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) or GAPs. These diets help with Crohns or Ulcerative Colitis. These diets cut out the carbs, grains, soy etc.  Keep a food and bathroom diary and keep track of what she eats and if she goes to the bathroom. This will give you an idea of what is bothering her if she has symptoms and if she gets constipated.
