i'm six months into treatment, and am still having trouble finding equilibrium in my diet. Most of the time, food sounds grosse to me. I go without eating for long periods of time because nothing seems the least bit appetizing. Then, when I'm totally starving, I'll stuff my face with something, and end up on the commode all night. Bland foods are the worst of the lot!! My former diet, of raw fruits, vegetables, yogert, salads, etc, now makes me horribly sick. Any suggestions?????

Thanks so much for your advice! It was very helpful. I'll try eating small meals, even when I don't feel like eating. I can't go on this way because I'm way too thin. I'm so tired of being sick and am under a huge amount of stress right now, which isn't helping in the least.
I'll try your advice, even thought I'll mis my favorite snacks...especially raw veggies. Amazingly, my GI doc has been no help at all with advice on diet. Maybe I should find another doctor who is more involved with their patients. The doc I'm seeing now does NOT impress me in the least!
God bless!

I can relate to everything with regard to the raw veggies, salads, etc. Before my daughter was diagnosed much of our go- to foods were those exact items. However, after diagnosis, we had to back way down. Raw veggies, fruits and salads were too difficult to digest.
After many meetings with a nutritionist, we were able to reprogram ourselves and change our lifestyle to meet our new needs. So, out with the whole grain everything and in with the less fiber/less residue foods.
It took some time, but now we are able to tolerate a small salad every so often and even snack on some raw veggies and ranch dressing. Give your gut a break for some time and then you should slowly be able to add them back into your life.
In the meantime, try eating smaller meals more often. It seems to help Liz and she is able to tolerate her food w/o getting an overwhelmed feeling. It also alleviates that starving feeling and no raging overload that only comes with regret in the end.
Good luck.
