Crohns and Juicing-Veggies and Fruits

Sat, March 31, 2012 1:26 PM

I watched a documentary called Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. Loved it!!! <3 It got me very interested in juicing for many different reasons. #1 being my health. My question is.....has anyone ever tried it with crohns? Is it ok/safe? I would like to start juicing asap and i'm very excited about it! Thanks for taking time to read my topic! :)

p.s.-by jucing I mean putting veggies and fruits into a jucier and only drinking that for breakfast lunch and dinner for a certain amount of days :)

Do the dates and lettuce bother you?  I was told no nuts, no seeds, no skins.  The dr also said I can only have veggies without seeds, and they must be steamed.  It is very disheartening!

Hi.  I just got back from the Mayo Clinic.  They told me that I could only have bananas, melons, and peeled apples.  The rest of the fruits had to be juiced, not blended.  I bought a juicer, and am looking for recipes.  The juicer just purees the ice cubes.  I would like something with more substance, perhaps a smoothie.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Sublime,

One thing I noticed when I tried juicing is that I'd routinely consume too many different things at a time--when you eat a meal, sometimes fast-digesting foods get swallowed after slow-digesting foods.  This causes the faster-digesting foods to putrify as they sit there waiting to get through the tubing.  I think juicing also made me take in too many calories at one time.

I'd consider juicing again only if I was to mix two foods at a time only.

I'm doing well on a mono-meal of dates for breakfast, a mono-meal of bananas for a mid-morning snack and again for lunch, and a salad for dinner (cucumber, celery, tomatoes, lettuce, dressing).  I've never felt better.

I started juicing before as i want to change my diet, because i know that what we eat is a big factor on what's going on  in our gut...But when i tried juicing everyday i just felt that my stomach is giving me so much pain. Until it gets to the point that i've been hospitalized for 6 days for perforation. I think because of the acidity of some fruits and the raw veggies irritates the lining of my stomach that's why after i've experience terrible pain (bloatedness, cramping, nausea, etc.) i realized juicing fruits and veggies  are not good for my CD.
