I seem to have a very hard time making friends since I recieved a illeostomy. This has cause me to be very lonely. Nobody seems to understand it they all seem to have some reason to make fun of me though. Its frustrating in every way. I just moved and I am starting all over. I hope this time the people around me are more understanding and friendly. So far I have not made a friend yet but I have only lived in my new condo for a few weeks. Lonely is the worst feeling!

Hi,I found that some of those that have no knowledge or pain of the disease, I now have an illeostomy and had a tough time of it at first then met a young lady but after a short timeshe found out and denied it but decided i was not right for her i see her occassionally now and she now feels bad about it. I then joined a support group and I would certainly would encourage you to give that a try.

I kow how you feel, I have the same issue but I try to make the best of it. I have actually never met another person with crohn's or ibd or if I have they havn't made it known to me, though I make no pretenses to hide that I have crohn's. I live in the central florida area so if you wanna hangout lets do this it's not good to feel lonely but I find that fun in the sun normally helps.

The previous post is right perhaps reaching out to locate a support group would be a step in the right direction. Check with the CCFA office, local hospitals, your gi's office. You are fortunate that you were able to relocate and have the opportunity to "start over". Think about some of the interests you have and look into a class in them. It is a great way to meet others that share the common interest too! Good luck, and know that you have a whole lot of people here who can lend a friendly ear.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I want you to know that you are not alone and we are all here for you. I was wondering if you could find an IBD support group. I'm sure ccfa.org would be more than happy to help you find one. They have a "contact us" tab on the top of this page.
