Flare Ups or Blockages

Tue, June 18, 2013 7:47 AM

Hi gang,

I've had two illeostomies and two take downs. My illeostomies have been because of severe flare-ups according to how they are described to me. But I've had three times, two of them recently, that I have felt are more like intestinal blockages. The reason I say this is I'm still trying to get rid of severe diarhea from my last take down and when the blockages occur - nothing comes out for days. When it does it is very uncharacteristic from diarhea and the last time I think it was a bunch of apple skins that blocked me up.  So - my question is, since no one can tell me whether I'm in remission or not - what will a flare-up feel like when I get one as compared to a blockage. Both cause me to writhe in pain for up to a week. The second to last time I went to the ER and they didn't let me out for two weeks - got CDIFF, MRSA, and a bunch of more problems from the meds they gave me. So the last time I just suffered it out for 6 days. Very painful and lost a lot of weight, but I'm afraid the quacks will want to take more of my intestines cause that's what they do, if I got into the ER for these events. The surgeons are always waiting in the wings when I go into the ER for blockages.
