Has anyone used the probiotic called VSL #3? It is very expensive but I have recently heard good things about it from a couple different sources. Thanks

My daughter (UC) has used it, and it seems to have helped her. It is very expensive. However, they have prescription strenghth, called VSL3DS, which some insurances will cover. The DS only means double strength, and each pouch has 900 million, instead of 450.

My son used VSL#3 for about 8 months. He is 19 and had just been diag. with Crohn's within that year. One day he mentioned that he felt sick to his stomach after he took his VSL#3 each day. I told him to stop it and see if that made a dif. He went off the VSL and has no nausea in the morning. It really didn't change anything else for him. It has been proven to help some people....it didn't hurt to try.
The best price we found was buying the product directly from VSL.

We've been giving a packet daily to our son (who has UC) for the past two years. It's difficult to determine whether it's worked but he's been much better. Thus, it's worth it to keep it up, although the cost is fairly steep. Supposedly some insurance companies may cover it but we haven't had that experience.

It is expensive but the amount of bacteria you get per dose 450 billion makes it a bargin if you calculate the price per billion bacteria compared to other multi strain probiotics.
