1990 - found stricture while testing for anemia - b12 shots taken to fix anemia
sever pain 1 or 2x a year... no meds taken Dr's said as long as pain not to bad and working, not to worry about it....
2019 - surgery to remove painful stricture - surgeon says looked like Crohns. No other crohns seen in intestines... just the 30 yr old stricture
surgery - ilieum, cecum, taken out so no valve - diarrhea terrible. But... no pain :-)
have not been back to GI doctor.... GI prior to surgery did colonoscopy said all looked good see you in 10 years.
Liquid brings on the bouts of diarrhea... if I go to town or have any away from home time.... no eating or drinking until home and close to bathroom.
No GI doctors close so 90 miles one way for a visit - as they provided no help for 30 years and even prior to the surgery.... might say I have an aversion to them..... also.... sugery did not go well... was a long recovery and 1 surgery scheduled - took 2 more to fix what went wrong with the 1st one..... surgeon just said I must have been sicker than they thought??? resection spung a leak so 2nd surgery was to fix it, leak happened less than 24 hrs after 1st- that was the one that set me back and had tough recovery, 3rd was to fix incisional hernia.... that went pretty smooth.
so.... 65yrs old, no meds - good health over all...... as the valve is gone..... is there anyway to slow down the liquid processing. I have not had a solid bowel since the surgery. I have no Crohns sysmtems other than diarrhea. No fistulas, etc. Surgeon diagnosis was based on what he saw of the strictured ileum.... said it looked like classic crohns... but bad... said what he took out was in bad shape. My intestins look fine......
should I keep putting up with the diarrhea.... all blood work shows I am tolerating it ok
or should I pursue meds to help slow all down?
thoughts and opinions appreciated :-)
