I have been searching for competent, affordable mental healthcare for years now, but at this point have mostly given up. The combination of skills and experience I am looking for barely exists, and the few I have managed to find do not accept insurance, and with rates nowhere near what I can afford. I really need someone who has expert-level experience with pharmacology, chronic disease, chronic pain (including the psychogenic kind), and a special understanding of the psychological impact of dealing with a lifelong incurable illness exacerbated by stress.
The choices made in treating my Crohn’s since childhood have done far more damage than the disease ever could have. This is incidentally one of the primary root causes of the intractable and increasingly debilitating depression that I’m dealing with now.
Anyway, while a group therapy situation is definitely not my first choice, I’m willing to try just about anything at this point aside from more psychoactive medications. I don’t see any discussion here, so I am curious to know if this ever got off the ground or if there is indeed something happening that I can check out.
Thanks for the effort either way.
