UC Treatment

Thu, February 01, 2024 11:25 AM

Hi. I have been diagnosed with UC in 1993. In treament since then, first with Dipentum, then Asacol, finally Mesalamine.
Moved to a new state, new gastro who wants to chnage my medicine because of inflamation and very high levels of calprotectin.
I have no other symptoms. Eat basically every food and drink red wine, all in moderation.
I have no inconvenience in my life because of UC, except taking 3x2 mesalamine a day and colonoscopy every 2 years (no diarrhea, no bleeding, no cramps or pain).
The medication supported my medical plan is Zeposia.
I am very conflicted about changing medicine since i live a normal life.
Any concers? advice? recomendations?
Thank you.
Eric

It's great to hear you’re managing your ulcerative colitis (UC) well! While considering a medication change to Zeposia, it's important to weigh your current stability against potential benefits. If you have concerns, discussing them with your new gastroenterologist is key. Also, you might explore Canada Drugs https://www.canadadrugsdirect.com/ for medications; they offer a variety of prescription drugs at competitive prices. Their easy-to-navigate site allows for quick ordering and reliable service. It could be a good resource if you decide to switch treatments.

Hi Eric, consider discussing the benefits of Zeposia with your gastroenterologist. It may help reduce inflammation despite your lack of symptoms. Getting a second opinion could also provide clarity on whether to change your medication.

For UC, I've been taking Rinvoq since December 2022. For me, it's been an incredible medication in situations where other biologics didn't work. Although there are some adverse effects, they are greatly exceeded by the benefits. Visit the Facebook group for Rinvoq Users and Support. Many excellent insights from patients using the drug. I wish you luck on it!
