I've had Crohn's since i was 12, diagnosed when i was 18. I am now 40, and the last year or so i have had so much body pain daily. It feels like i went too hard at the gym and my whole body hurts to move/walk, anything. It feels like muscle pain. Is this a common side effect? My gastro has never mentioned this or asked me about it. I am wondering if it's Crohn's related, or maybe i have something else going on. Thanks for the feedback.

HI, Tapentadol works well for me. It is for around-the-clock treatment of pain. Specifically indicated for controlling the pain of diabetic neuropathy when around-the-clock opioid medication is required.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's this past Februrary, but have had mucus symptoms and intermittent joint pain for a couple of years. My shoulders became especially painful last fall. It felt like someone was stabbing me in the shoulder and it was much worse at night. I took Aleve and Advil to alleviate, which made the mucus symptoms worse and landed me at the GI's office with a Crohn's diagnosis. I'm not in remission yet, but my joint and muscle pain has improved somewhat. I take Tylenol instead of NSAIDs, which is pretty effective. I also take a fish oil and tumeric supplement, as well as drinking cherry juice daily. That combination made me feel noticeably better, though of course I'm not sure if it is causation or correlation. Physical therapy also helps. Hope you feel better!

CBD oil works well, the procana brand is reliable per my Naturopath. NSAIDS are contraindicated in IBD, they can actually cause a flare.

They say Crohn's is caused by excessive inflamation so it stands to reason that joint, muscle, bone and body pain would be associated with it. Which came first the chicken or the egg? About a decade before experieriencing Crohn's symptoms or being diagnosed I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, which itself is difficult to diagnose. I cannot (now) help but wonder, did I have Crohn's then? Thinking back I had episodes which were short lived - intense at times - but short lived. I always thought when it happened that I must have eaten someting bad or that I had a bug; which was what I thought this last time except that after three months it didn't go away.
I have a family history of IBD so I don't know what to think. Maybe those past episodes were just "bugs" or maybe not. I do know that when I have a flare up, like the one I am having now which is so intense I really cannot leave the house, I hurt. I ache. I feel like I did when my fibro was at its worst before they figured out what it was and I got meds to help it.
I feel your pain. I wish I could tell you that I do something particular to ease the suffering but basically (especially right now) I just suffer and try to carry on as well as I can. I do take ibuprofen as it is an anti - inflamitory and it helps a bit. You have to be careful though because too much is bad for your liver and pancreas and at high doses could cause kidney failure. I am no doctor, but my thinking is that if one is having severe diarrhea (15-20 times a day as I am at the moment) as much as I try to replace my fluids I really struggle to keep up so IF I am going to take any iburofen I try to keep it to a minimum. I already have some back/kidney pain from a bit of dehydration I wouldn't want to make it worse.
