New Here - joint pain and exercise ?

Thu, August 28, 2008 6:05 PM

Hi, this is my first post.  I have a question about joint pain.  I started walking about three months ago.  I have had several episodes where my left knee will become so painful and swollen that I have to walk with the knee stiff, or practically drag my leg.  Losing weight would be very helpful to my overall health and this knee pain is very frustrating.  I'm aware that this is peripheral arthritis related to my ulcerative colitis.

Can anyone else identify with this?

I am so happy to have found this Crohn's & Colitis Community.

You could feel a clear second coming on this moment yet, everybody has lived and experienced life in a method of how to start an online business some kind and gained something from it.Or on the other hand, you have gained expertise from previous work, or a task you are doing at present.

You can begin learning and rehearsing these moves to have the option to guard yourself if somebody attempts to cause you damage. This kind of hand-to-hand fighting will show you how to how to use First aid aid send off kicks and punches to shield yourself.

Hi, I have had UC for 4-5 months now, and lately my work outs have been random ( 3-4 times a week on a good week) used to be 6-7 days a week for the past 12 yrs.  I have been having extreme joint pain and my right hip clicks when I move and my hands swell every day now...I am so fatigued, I can  barely get off the couch and chase my 2 yr. old....I am trying to talk to others too to see the link and to get some relief, I just try to do what I can when I feel up to it, which for me, is very upsetting.  I guess the pain is part of the disease....now, it's trying to find out how to manage that too :(  I'll keep you posted on what i can find out

i have arthralgis (arthritis without the visable inflammation) and i take tylonel arthritis for the pain. sometimes it's so bad throughout my entire body that my doctors have thoguht it was lupus, but it's not. usually the tylonel arthritis helps, it does more than regular tylonel does. when i'm hurting badly, i usually take a warm shower.

I have Crohn's disease and i am very active. When i was having a major flare up i could not even walk due to the severe pain and disfiguration from the arthritis.  after i went into remission i started running between 5-12 miles a day.  building up the muscles in the joints where the arthritis affects you is crucial to stopping such severe damage and pain when you have a flare up.  whenever you feel better walk and try to build your strength.  don't take nsaids but tylenol helped control my arthritis pain when i was really bad i hope you feel better

Hi there, I have severe crohns and I can relate to the extreme fatigue and joint pain.  I reduced my exercise to just free weights, stationary bike and the large ball which I sit and bounce on.  I like the free weights cus you can sit and do a few reps. I'm 55yrs old and its helped my "mental" state...I would ask my doctor to revisit the lab work and ask for another colonoscopy...it may answer your questions.  good luck
