Does anyone have any tips for dealing with stress? I am just getting over a flare-up but there is alot of stressful things going on now, family issues and I don't want stress to prolong the flare-up.

Hi Amanda,

Maybe try some Yoga, meditation, or submerge your body in a bathtub with epson salt, and exercise.
I think stress is the number one trigger of my flare ups and I have been incorporating the above techniques
to try to calm myself.  Not sure how effective it is at the moment but doesn't hurt to try.

Dealing with stress is a highly personal issue, and increased stress can exacerbate symptoms of IBD.  If the stress is caused by depression, PTSD, or other psychological condition, I urge you to talk with your doctor.  If it's normal life stresses, you should do what you can to remove/avoid the source of stress.  If you can't do so, take a break and spend some you time doing whatever activity you most enjoy.  Exercise is a great stress reliever, and has other health benefits also.  Sharing your frustrations with someone you trust can be helpful also, to a degree.  Best of luck - there are others out there feeling the same as you!
