I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2011. It's been a rough road for me. The Crohn's brought on a Spine Disease and JRA. I also had CDIFF a few times too.
I was discharged from the ICU two days before hurricane Sandy from a bad flare. When hurricane sandy hit my home town, nothing was stopping me from helping my neighbors. Staten Island was hit very bad. On day two, I started my volunteer efforts as an EMT first responder and I've been doing it ever since. There's days when I don't feel good, but these people need me; the city isn't providing any medical help to those effected in New Dorp Beach, it's all volunteers helping. To make a long story short, my volunteer efforts with the New York State Nursing Association were advertised on news stations worldwide. My message to fellow Crohn's and Colitis patients is to fight the fight! Don't let this disable you. We're just like every other human being and we can make a difference in this world. Don't ever doubt yourself, always have hope! Below are some of the news links. Enjoy!
