Brain/Gut Connection

Tue, September 20, 2016 8:47 PM

I had a total colectomy (entire large intestine removed) in January of this year. I am familiar with the brain-gut connection, which plays an important role in processing emotions. Since the loss of my gut, and having my thoughts stuck in my head instead of finding the pathway to my gut, I have found myself dealing with immense anxiety and depressed mood swings. Has anybody else with a total colectomy and permanemt ostomy felt this way?
