Anxiety about Colon Cancer

Wed, February 05, 2020 9:12 PM

Hello!

I am new to this forum, but not new to the disease.
A little background, I am 24 years old and was diagnosed with UC at age 2, at this point with 22 years of the disease I am constantly anxious about developing colon cancer and ultimately death.

I know I have been fortunate throughout the course of my UC that I am pretty well controlled with Mesalamine alone, but at times it feels like something bad is inevitable.

I am wondering if anyone else has these fears and if they have any advice on how they manage? I want to seek a counselor who can help manage the anxiety going forward.

Thanks! smiley

Colon cancer is vicious, and I hope that a cure for this cancer will be found soon. My colleagues at rare disease cro are doing research on these diseases, and they are trying their best to find a way to deal with these diseases.

Look at all of the people on these boards who have j pouches. If you get colon cancer and have a total colectomy you’ll never have to worry about a recurrance
