Pregnancy and chrons disease?

Tue, October 15, 2013 12:02 AM

Hi everyone,

My name is Shantae, I've had severe Chrons disease for about 3 years now but this year has been my worst by far. I wanted  to know if there are any moms or soon to be moms with chrons disease. I took a test and it came out positive and I'm scared. I've read it can be passed on to your baby, I've heard pregnancy makes the symptoms go away, and I've heard that the symptoms got worse during or after pregnancy. I just want to know how yous did through your pregnancy? If you were sick what did you do since a lot of medicine we can't take while pregnant. I would love to know your story through your pregnancy (& after) and any advice you have for me. Thank you.

My daughter has severe Crohn's and has been blessed with two beautiful children. Her first pregnancy she was healthy as a horse and gained almost 80 pounds! She continued on Remicade thru both pregnancies. The second pregnancy was rougher. She was sick a lot in the beginning but thankfully delivered a healthy baby. She had flares almost immediately after both kids are born. Make sure you have a great OB and someone who understands you should be considered a high risk pregnancy. Good luck!
