My daughter is 18 and was diagnosed with Crohns a year ago. She was bleeding daily and having loose stools up to 10 times a day. We now have her on Azathioprine and the bleeding has stopped as well as the stools. We just had 6MP bloodwork and to my surprise her SED rate was still elevated to a 43. Why would this be if she seems to be doing so well? I am still so new to this? She follows no diet could this be the reason?

Hi Sed rates can mean inflammation ANYWHERE, so it's not exclusive to Crohn's processes. If she had something as simple as a cold or even seasonal allergies, it could bump it up. So if everything else is showing ok levels, 1 time having an elevated sed rate may not be any reason for concern. if it's still elevated next time, then you will want to start investigating the cause.

Im not a dr but I do know that SED rates are slow to move. What was her CRP? That is the faster moving indicator of inflammation. Did she have increased white blood cells? Have you thought about a nutritionist?
