It was supposed to be a regular Follow-up

Sat, October 24, 2009 9:51 AM

Hi Parents,

Quick question.   Has anyone ever gone for a regular follow-up thinking this will be quick.  Things have been great:   good appetite, good poops, not many belly aches.   Then have your world turned upside down by weight loss?

It happend this week and this has NEVER happend in the almost six years that we've been dealing with CD.

So, now we are taking a Boost a day and stepping on the scale every week.  Hopefully this will make a difference.

Thoughts, opinions, experiences all welcome.

Thank you in advance, and I wish there wasn't a need for this forum (a cure would be nice), until then, I am thankful for this community.

Same thing happened to me and my daughter the last time we went.  Makes you uneasy thinking about going back again.

Dear Moms in AZ & Mich:

Thank you for your kind words, thoughts.   It really means a lot.

She had lost two lbs. since her last visit 3 months ago.  To you and I not a big deal....I could regain that with a little wine and cheese.   However, when we are talking about our "special belly" kids, it is HUGE.  It is almost a year's worth of gains for her.

What to do?   We will stay the course.   Always putting on a happy face for her and the family, suck it up and deal.  However, deep in my heart I am worried.  Doc said she will carefully monitor and may have to do the capsule camera test to take a look at her small intestine.  (Not what I wanted to do over winter break).  The disease may have traveled there.  If that is the case, then you guessed it......more meds   UUUUHH, this is frustrating.

Ok,  enough of my complaining.   I am off to mass.    If anyone can help, HE can!

Thanks again for listening.  All my best to you and your little ones!

Sorry about the unexpected surprise at the visit......my heart goes out to you.  We haven't been diagnosed long enough for that to happen yet but still........

Hang in there!  You're obviously a GREAT Mom.  :-)

I'm sorry to hear you had an upsetting appointment.  I haven't been through that yet but I know everytime we go to the doctor my heart is in my throat, scared I'll find out something worse has happened.   How much weight had she lost, if you don't mind saying.  My son hasn't grown in the last year (height or weight) and no one is really saying anything about it yet but we're still working on finding the right drugs.

Hugs for you and prayers for your daughter.
