Take Steps

Wed, December 16, 2009 2:23 PM

Our family/friends are planning on doing the Take Steps walk this year.  Any advice about how to make it easy/get the most out of it from any of you who have done it before?

My kids and I have done it for the past 4 yrs.   You can register and get started right here on the CCFA site.    Last year, my kids and I made a  rainy day project.  We had gone to our local craft store and got everything we needed to make our team hats.   You'll see at the walk there will be teams either with hats, shirts, or bandanas. The kids were excited to make their very own and it was great for me because it kept them occupied on a rainy day!

My family and I usually make a day of it.   After the fundraiser, we head to a local pub and have dinner.  It is our "tradition" of sorts.   There are lots of ways to raise $.   Last year, my daugher went to Camp Oasis.   During the send-off, the parents were given a packet of info.   Inside was a "Coins for CCFA" Canister.   I thought, what am I going to do with that?   Well, when my daughter came home from camp......she thought real quick.....put this right here in the kitchen.    Guess what, there is over $50 in it.   After all, the heart of the home is in the Kitchen!

You can raise a lot if you have an office sign up sheet for sponsorship and all of the kids activities, etc.  Another great tool is through e-mail.   You can really cover a lot of contacts that way.   It is more difficult here because my daughter's friends are unaware of her situation so MUM is the word, but we contribute as a family and get involved.   After all, we have to Take Steps for a cure!

Here is to a successful fundraiser.   Enjoy!
