supporting a loved one with UC

Sat, October 23, 2010 10:21 PM

My boyfriend of 5 years has UC. He has been on countless medications, none of which helped. He underwent 3 surgeries to remove his colon completely and he now has a J pouch. He is still really sick. He cannot go out anywhere comfortably. UC has taken its tole on his whole outlook and emotional wellbeing. When this all began he was positive and hopeful, whereas now he is anticipating the next terrible thing that will happen. I don't know how to be supportive. I don't know how to lift his spirits anymore. I don't know how to remain connected to him when this dominates his thoughts and entire outlook on life. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
