houston IBD parents

Fri, February 04, 2011 8:44 AM

I am hoping to network with parents and families nearby with children with IBD, expecially young'uns! We are new to Houston and new to ulcerative colitis--our two year old was diagnosed in October 2010.

You can read details on our blog IBDinourhome.blogspot.com until I get a summary up on this forum.

I understand there are some groups that meet near the Galleria and in Sugarland. Are there others who attend that bring kids?

Troy - I'm SO GLAD you went. Having a support group has been invaluable to us, especially immediately following Claire's diagnosis. With our group, the kids come but have activities while the parents meet. Something for future thought if you group can accommodate that..... I'll never forget Claire saying, "There are kids here with Crohn's, Mom!" like she was so surprised.

Hugs,

Claire's Mom

Okay, so I went to a Houston CCFA support meeting. What a good experience to be able to talk with other individuals about situations, experiences, questions, and life!

I recommend this sort of face-to-face interaction. If other parents are out there, maybe you are interested in what we did. One of us parents stayed at home and the other went to the meeting, and next time maybe we'll switch it up....
