Help for needles - Have you seen this?

Sun, February 27, 2011 6:40 PM

Hi All,

I came across a product and thought I would post its info here for all who have to take shots / infusions regularly.   We don't have the need, but I think it may be helpful to some.   It is called Buzzy4shots.   It is a buzzing plastic bee that you put on prior to needles.  Its buzzing is supposed to distract the nervous system from the pain of the needle and it comes with cool pak as well (I guess to help with the discomfort too).

We bought this product and unfortunately my 7 yr old daughter didn't think it helped (although she only tried it once and was pretty upset about blood draws back when we tried it).  The little buzzy bee came in a cute bag with distraction cards (which are great), a kazoo, and a little ice pack so we added our lidocaine cream, bandaids and some little games for the waiting room and still take it with us to blood draws. The lidocaine cream has been a blessing (and the reason we haven't tried the buzzy bee again) since we are still at a stage of many blood draws and a weekly injection of methotrexate-which has gone fine with the cream.
