Has anyone heard of this?  What is the prognosis?  My son meets with the surgeon on the 14th.

Thanks,

Yes, he had his surgery on the 23rd of March.  He got his staples out yesterday and will return to work on May 2nd.  Thanks for thinking of him.

Yes, they tried everything before resorting to surgery.  They originally thought they were going to have to take 24" of intestines, but thankfully, it turned out to only be 6".  The Crohn's was on the outside of his intestines and causing them to narrow.  The doctor also thinks that my son's appendix were affected by Crohn's when he had his appendix removed several years before as well.  I never knew until recently that it could affect the outside.

Wow!!  I have never heard of this.  On the OUTSIDE of his intestines??  I have crohns.  I was diagnosed in 2009 and went into remission in July of 2009.  I am currently coming out of a flare.  Are you sure he does not have an abscess perhaps?  I had an abscess that developed on the outside of my colon, but this is the first I have heard of that..and he has to have surgery??  I am so sorry to hear that.  I hope they have explored all options of treatment before surgery.
