Punched in the gut

Hi,

I am posting probably way too much info, but just a scared mom!

9 weeks ago my 4 year old started vomiting and having diarrhea .   They found an illeus, and we went on a liquid diet.  Got better.. Then got worse. Ileus moved to a different spot. Then Got better.  During all of this we have completed 5 stool studies (all clear)  an upper GI and multiple x-rays.  The GI showed some nodules, but everything was "fine".  Ileus finally cleared after 3 weeks and he had one normal stool.  Then he started with this severe belly distention. His waist expands from 16in in am to 24-28in in the pm. In the last 9 weeks he has had 4 normal stools.  Many days he would have 3-8 "soft serve" stools a day.  We finally were referred to a ped GI  who took some blood work.  They called today. Both of his inflamtion markers are high.  They would "like to scope to confirm a UC or Crohn's"  This all seems so crazy to me.  Does this even sound like Crohn's?  They are waiting for the celiac's panel to return to schedule the scope, so they can do it all at once.   Can celiacs cause that kind of inflammation?

I just feel like I have been punched in the gut.  So confused and scared.  Any tips or advice for someone just headed down this path?  He is just so young!

Thanks for a quick response.

Our family has followed a fairly strict paleo lifestyle since December last due to my stomach issues.  I have understood that the GAPS and Paleo are fairly close.   I will check into it.
