What type of health plan is best?

Fri, October 07, 2011 6:37 AM

I am looking for some advice, it is almost open enrollment time for my family's health insurance plan.  I have an 11 year old with Crohn's who just started Remicade.  We are so lucky to have health insurance, but even with good coverage the costs of managing a chronic disease are very high.

I would be interested in hearing from others about what type of health plan is best when you have high medical bills.  Is a low deductible better -- or a high deductible plan?  What about using flexible spending accounts?  What has been your experience? I would love to hear and all advice?  Thanks

I have the same questions! We also have open enrollment approaching as well as Remicade on the horizon.

I have asked the doctor if there is anyone in his office who can help us answer these questions. He suggested his nurse manager. I also plan to ask the social workers at the children's hospital. They are experts in this type of thing.
