Welcome...sort of...sorry you had to be here.
My son (12 now) was diagnosed when he was 6 years old. It took a very loooooooooong time, and a lot of tests to get a diagnosis. Since he's been diagnosed, I've learned a couple of important things. First, Crohn's is a very personal disease. There is no "set" treatment to "fix" the problem. So, remember that you are on a journey and prepare for it to be a long one. Second, keep your sense of humor. The stress of the situation, the decisions and the information can be unbearable at times. Finding the humor in the situation always helps me climb out of the pit.
My son has done two pill camera studies (along with countless other scans, scopes, x-rays, ct's, etc...). Both times, the camera got stuck! The part that makes me chuckle is that no one ever seems to realize it! The first time we found out it was in there a month later when he had pain. It had to be surgically removed. The second time, the GI doc decided to do a follow-up endoscopy and found an obstruction...the obstruction was the pill cam!!! No surgery that time, he was able to retrieve it.
Now, here's the best part. For all of the tests, etc... NOTHING has ever given us a good picture of what is going on inside my son. The pill cameras getting stuck were huge blessings. Because of those events, we finally knew what was going on inside my son's body and were able to make treatment adjustments accordingly.
You'll be okay. Your daughter will be okay. Just take it all one day at a time. And, remember we are all here to lend support and share information.
