Total Proctocolectomy

Wed, January 18, 2023 3:28 PM

Hi, I'm a 21yr old female with Crohn's. I have to have a full proctocolectomy in 2 weeks (I've already had an ileostomy for 12 years), I'm worried about complications because of the area, and the risk of damage to nerves, the vagina, uterus etc. I know the risks are rare and my surgeons very experienced, but has anyone had/knows someone whose had a proctecomy and experienced any side effects to these organs or sexual functions?

Greetings, friends. I can't pass by and not tell you about the best Canadian casino Skol Casino . They really have it all, from a great range of games to attentive and responsive customer support. I was impressed with the selection of slots with a variety of themes and high payouts. I especially liked that they have live casinos with professional dealers, which create the atmosphere of a real casino right in your home. And also attractive promotions and bonuses that are available to both new and regular players.

Proctectomy is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of part or all of the rectum. While the procedure can have significant effects on bowel function and quality of life, it can also impact sexual function in some cases. It's been 1 year since you raised this issue on your forum. How is your health now? Can you share what you experienced after surgery so we can learn more. bubble shooter

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you have to undergo a proctocolectomy, but I'm glad that you have a skilled and experienced surgeon. I had a proctocolectomy with end ileostomy two years ago and I can tell you that it was the best decision I ever made. I was scared and nervous before the surgery, but it went smoothly and I recovered well. I did not have any complications or side effects to my organs or sexual functions. In fact, I feel more confident and comfortable with my body now. I can enjoy sex without pain or worry. I can also eat whatever I want and do whatever I love without fear of flare-ups or accidents. My ostomy pouch is easy to manage and does not bother me at all. I have a normal and happy life with my partner, family, and friends. I hope this helps you feel more optimistic and reassured. You are not alone in this journey. You have a lot of support and hope. I wish you all the best for your surgery and recovery. You got this!

I know the risks are not exactly the same, but I have not had any problems related to the surgery that you mentioned. I do have one muscle in the rectal area that cramps occationally when over stretched that never cramped pre surgery, but nothing that interferes with daily life. Good luck!

Hi! I had a simialr surgery (a colectomy that included removing most of my rectum) when I was 16. I know the risks are not exactly the same, but I have not had any problems related to the surgery that you mentioned.
