The Scd Diet does work. Like the person said it depends on what you are willing to do. It is very strict and you do cook A LOT. There are new companys that are preparing food to make it easier. Digestive Wellness is one of them. But I will be honest. I cook all day Sunday to prepare for the next week. That is just for my lunches and snacks. Learn to freeze foods also. But it depends, most people if they stick to the diet do quite well with it. You have to be on it awhile. I have been on it for two years. You can still have a flare and I am on no meds now. Work with your doctor, follow the diet and hopefully you can get off the meds. (Doctors don't believe in the diet) But I feel this way. Why be on the meds and have all those side effects plus long term problems. Plus doctors jump from one med to another because they just are not working. They are stopping the symptoms for the time being, they are not healing the disease. This diet over the years does heal your body. It stops the inflammation and your are eating healthy food. Grass fed beef, veggies, fruits, baked goods made with almond or coconut flour. I rather take my chances with eating healthy and if at some point I have to go on meds well the longer I am off them the better. It's a choice. I admit I miss popping something in my mouth just for a snack or having a piece of cake but I do not want the horrible side effects of the drugs plus the disease. Google SCD Lifestyle, Breaking the Vicious Cycle and you will be on your way.

I think it is irresponsible and borderline unethical for posters to come on this board peddling the SCD diet and the accompanying book as a panacea for inflammatory bowel disease. The diet has worked for some people, but it has not worked for others, including me. In fact, my condition grew worse while on the diet, and I adhered to it down to the last molecule. There is no scientific evidence that the diet works--just the anectodal reports of the diet's advocates. Moreover, the author of the diet, Elaine Gottschall, was completely wrong about the cause of celiac disease: she claimed it was caused by carbohydrate intake, when in fact it was later discovered that the cause was a protein, gluten. If you want to try this diet, fine--but proceed with caution, and be aware that there is no cure for IBD, including this diet. People who post messages here claiming the the diet will work wonders for everyone are doing a disservice to often-desperate people who need serious advice, not false promises with no scientific foundation.
