Hi,
I've been diagnosed with Crohn's for about 10 years. Biologics have been the only thing to work. but I am running low on options b/c I have developed antibodies too all.
I have been researching the SCD diet, saying it was designed for UC/Crohns.
Does it really work? It's a very limiting diet and has been hard to follow. I have been trying for a week and I do feel a little better. Absolutely no grains is challenging!

I had a colonoscopy recently. My Dr found active Crohn's and a stricture in my small intestines. So.. With that he put me on a low fiber/low residue diet.
I guess I will need to put the SCD on hold.

Hi,
I have the book and tried it for a while. It did not help me. Then later I realized my poor intestines are not happy with nuts at ALL. Nuts are allowed in the SCD diet and I substituted a lot of flours with nut flours etc so that might have been my problem.
I am doing good right now but if I would slide back into a longer flare up I definitely want to give it another try.
Let us know if it works for you.

I was on that diet for over a year. It did work. I learned to make crackers, pizza crust, cookies etc out of ground nuts. Mashed cauliflower or rutabaga made a great substitute for mashed potatoes. I made fried rice out of finely diced cauliflower. It became easier and I really didn't suffer. There's always too many side effects with the medications available.
