Hello
i have recently been diagnosed with Crohn's disease and have been terrified to eat and have no idea what to eat. I met with a Registered Dietician and she strongly recommended I follow the Fodmap diet to determine what I should and shouldn't eat. Has anyone had success with this? It looks like everything written about the diet is related to IBS not IBDs. Was the diet hard to follow? Could you easily determine what was causing you problems when you started to incorporate back in foods? Any suggestions and thoughts on the diet would be very helpful.
Thank you!

I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's about a month and a half ago. I was also terrified to eat and lost a lot of weight (about 15 pounds) in a short amount of time. I met with a nutritionist who also put me on the FODMAP diet. Within one week I was already feeling so much better. Be strict about what you can and cannot eat and no matter how monotonous it is, keep a diary of what you eat, what time, and a description of your bowel movements and the times you go. This helps to track down which foods your body doesn't like. After about three weeks, my nutritionist looked at my log and said it was okay to introduce one new food a day. Make sure to only introduce one at a time so u can pin point symptoms. Udis makes a lot of good products that are FODMAP free. Also, i think stress has a lot to do with our symptoms, so take some time every day to relax. Good luck and I hope you start feeling better soon!
