I have recently went to see my GI doctor for different symptoms I have been having: small amounts of blood, hard bowel movements every other day or so, as well as pain. The pain was mild and a lot of the time more of a discomfort. At times there is also feeling the need to go, but not really needing to. Anyways, a MR Enterography showed no signs of inflammation or Crohn's Disease. :) So, I am still in remission according to the MRI. I do have a small fissure that accounts for the blood. My doctor suggested I may be experiencing an irritable bowel and suggested the FODMAP diet. I started the diet yesterday. Not bad so far.
Has anyone been told this? I trust my doctors completely and I know I still have a lot to learn. Any thoughts, advice or comments are more than welcome!

While there are times I have slipped up, I think I am doing a good job at following it. However, I also recently moved and am now living on my own. I am learning how to cook and I think it helps to be just learning how to cook while learning how to follow the diet. I also have tried to find sweets and desserts that are okay to eat. Lactose-free ice cream, a really easy peanut butter cookie recipe, and so on. I also love fruits and veggies so I eat them a lot during the day. I don't venture out to restaurants much. When I eventually do, I am nervous about being able to follow it. Not many friends know about the diet yet and whenever I eat with family I have to think ahead about if I need to bring my own food or not.
I have a hard time not eating too much. A large amount of food really makes me feel bloated and nauseas. And a large amount to me is almost a regular meal. I am trying to eat 5-6 small meals a day, but often slip up and eat that comfort food in the evening. I would like to have someone hold me accountable too.

My doctor suggested this diet as well, but i feel that it is so hard to follow. I have found the Paleo is fairly similar and seems to make me feel so much better than when eating lots of grains or dairy, etc. My largest struggle with any of these diets is trying to follow them without slipping up. You'd think if I felt better I would keep it up, but after a stressful day all I want is a bowl of ice cream or other sweet things - within an hour I regret my decision severely and the cycle continues on. I really need an accountability partner or something to keep me in check. Does anyone else struggle with this or have any suggestions on how to resist tempation
