Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else experiences binge eating when they are on meds and feeling better and/or in remission. I have always had a problem with binge eating and compulsive overeating (I'm not sure if that lifestyle contributed to my UC). I was rushed to the hospital about a month ago because of shooting pains in my life side. the pain was so intense that I had a panic attack.
I'm currently on my first-ever round of prenisone and it is making me crazy hungry, fat and bloated. Add to that the fact that I'm feeling better (sort of - no D but the pain is still there) and I seem to be eating with abandon. For the first time in months, I am able to eat whatever I want and not have to poo five minutes later, so I am eating everything in sight, and even bingeing on fast food, chips and ice cream.
I'm trying to follow Dr. Weil's anti-inflammatory diet as much as I can, to help get me into a healthy lifestyle so I don't flare up again when I'm done my meds, but I can't stop myself from making unhealthy choices and eating far too much. I feel lost. I know I should be eating healthy, and that if I don't I can make myself really sick but I can't seem to stop.

It often is a sign of depression and/or severe anxiety, and it is so addictive considering it can cause temporary satisfaction, and prepare the person crave it for the temporary rush of “good” hormones that are inevitably crashed to the grouns afterwards, resulting in a nasty vicious circle considering it seems to feed on itself. It is additionally often marked by obesity, and hard to treat considering those that practice binge eating are often not willing to talk about it or get treatment.
