Exercising with Crohn's

Fri, May 02, 2014 8:28 AM

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out. I have had crohn's since 2001. I began exercising on April 25 and was going to the gym in the morning on an empty stomach. This past Wednesday I had to go after dinner.  I did 1/2 hour on bike and then abdominal exercises (which i have been doing with no problem). When i got home from the gym, my stomach was instantly sick. I threw up that night and then yesterday I was sick to my stomach all day, and I had a burning sensation in my stomach all day, also have had more bowel movements then normal. Still have that burning sensation today, ( although the nausia has gone away) still increased bowel movements. Does not feel like a pulled muscle, more of a burn. Has this ever happened to anyone??

Hello! I have had the same issue with exercising.  I have had UC for 3 years.  I have to go to the gym on an empty stomach or else I have the same issues.  I thought I was alone since my doctor doesn't believe it is abnormal.  I had to stop going to Zumba after dinner because the stomach issues after were horrible.  I also cannot run when I have anything in my stomach. I guess there is a reason behind it, but I have not figured it out yet.  Good luck in your journey!
