Hello,
I'm Alex, just joined today. I'm actually looking for some info to help my sister. She's in her late twenties, and was diagnosed with Crohn's about 8 years ago (though we're pretty sure it actually manifested when she was around 15). She had her daughter 3 years ago, and is pregnant with her second child. Her first pregnancy was not majorly eventful, but this one is absolutely kicking her ass. She's been hospitalized once already, and her Crohn's has been a near-constant flare. She doesn't really feel like doing much more than laying on the couch most days, and I'm looking to make up some meals/snacks/shopping lists etc to try and help :( It's kind of a situation where when she DOES feel like eating, it's like a five minute window, so she goes for convenience foods and such, which can't be playing nice with her digestive tract, which just starts the cycle over again.
Thing is, I'm finding a crap ton of contradictory information about Crohn's-friendly diet and pregnancy-friendly diet (and pregnant-Crohn's-friendly diet). Her doctor is not especially helpful on that front...he has her on Humira and I get the impression that his stance is that he's now done everything he can and they just need to wait for it to work.
Are there any sites/blogs/anything that anyone could recommend that help with menu planning? Or any kind of reliable starting point? Most of my searches point me back to WebMd...but I really don't find that archive user-friendly or easy to navigate (and they've diagnosed me with testicular cancer like five times). Any information would be much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Elfigrl
