So, I see some people are ok with dairy and some are not. I am wondering how to REALLY figure it out. I drink lots of milk and recently had some bad pains. I laid off the milk and one part of my stomach stopped hurting, but then my upper intestines hurt AND I had a blistering headache that would not go away. In the end I drank a bunch of milk and the headache was gone, and so was the upper belly pain, but the lower, crampy pain was back the next morning. Help!

Only recently have I been able to start eating yogurt again. I discovered an organic, lactose free, gluten free, free range yogurt at Whole Foods which I can eat without any problems. Any other kind of yogurt, and my stomach acts up. It's strange because I still can't have lactaid milk. Coconut yogurt is really good. I've also heard you can make your own yogurt... I don't know how though, but apparently there aren't as many live cultures in home made yogurt? Try to find lactose free, gluten free yogurt!

When we are having a Crohn's flare, the lactase producing cells get stripped from our intestines, and we are temporarily lactose intolerant. I think eating plain (unsweetened!) organic yogurt every day is a great boon to my health. I am not sure what the headaches are about, but avoid cow's milk and try goat's milk, almond milk, or especially good for me is cocoanut milk.

My explanation: Crohns is laughing at you! Seriously though I really don't know, maybe one of the 2 was just pure coincidence? My suggestion would be to just keep monitoring it daily. Everyone reacts to Crohns different, I myself don't have a problem with dairy. Maybe someone could chime in if they know of any tests out there that can be done to show a reaction to dairy?
