Hi all,
I recently started having a flare and this time is worse than last time. I seem to be having trouble even with well-cooked vegetables. I am pretty much avoiding them all at this point, but I am concerned that my body has no chance of healing without those nutrients. Does anyone know of a good supplement that can temporarily replace vegetables? One that doesn't taste terrible would be great... Thanks in advance!

Juice Plus is a great supplement! I have been taking it for 5 years and just recently started drinking the protein mix. If I eat the capsules and drink a smoothie every morning then I am able to eat almost anything!

I had diarrhea and bleeding every single day for 4 years straight. Then I started taking probiotics. My doctor told me about Align, but it didn't work for me. Then I tried Lee Swanson Signature Line Ultimate Probiotic Formula and that (along with the Apriso that I still take) stopped the diarrhea and bleeding. I can eat well cooked-veggies and well-cooked fruit now. I no longer eat raw fruit or raw veggies. I am in neither clinical nor histological remission, but at least I do not have symptoms, so I can lead a relatively normal life. I've been symptom-free since November of 2009 (except when I take a foolish chance and eat raw produce--I won't do that again!) Also, I've had ulcerative colitis for 57.5 years. My doctors told me when I was a teenager that I would be a goner by the time I was 39. I guess they were wrong.

Sorry it has taken so long for me to reply, I haven't been on in some time. Judy Vedder is the master herbalist, iridologist. Google her, it is very interesting how much information your eyes can tell. Her visit was not covered by insurance, but well worth the money. I didn't provide her with any information prior to apt because I was a skeptic. She was right on the money for so many different ailments.
Good Luck

Try juicing. I got a juicer at target for $50, it was well worth it. Pretty much any fruits taste good juiced, but look up recipes if you're juicing vegetables.

My experience and knowledge of Crohn's have been the liver and stress. If you are allowing a lot of stress into your life and eating the wrong foods yes you will have flares. I saved my intestines by getting a treatment in Italy in 1960 which cleaned the "Free Radicals" of the liver. It was shots of Metheonine, B-12, and vitamin K. Now I am controlling Crohn's with Liver Support Factors pills and diet. The Italian treatment was two weeks and I was super healthy for 3 years. No food bothered me for those years. The end was a start up of acid stomach. Now I know the liver controls a lot of health activities. It controls stomach acid and reflux, proper working of the intestines, joint and muscular pain such as arthritis, lower back pain, memory and vision. I thought I had Alseheimers since my brain was going blank, after the liver supplement and rest my brain is as sharp as ever. Also I have no pain left any where until I eat something wrong. Taste is a thing of the past for Crohn's you must enjoy naturally tasting foods. Using a blender helps since much easier to digest. Make sure during flare no onions, green peppers, garlic, or processed foods (most everything). One bite of the wrong food will make you go back to your symptoms. I hope I explained the life style you must have.

Last year I went to a Master Herbalist in NYC and she recommended juicing, I've been juicing ever since and it really makes me feel good. I guess it's all the nutrient of the veggies w/o the hard to digest fiber. You may want to give it a try...Good Luck

Hey there! I just started taking juice plus gummies about 3 weeks ago as a veggie replacement because I have similar difficulties as you mentioned above. My stomach tolerated them just fine! I have also been trying out different protein powders like Vega and Garden of Life. I am feeling good so far, but did not start out in an active flare.
