Did anyone ever try the FODMAP diet? My GI just told me to try it and I would love to hear people's experience with it.
I have heard that some patients do have both IBS and IBD. Don't really know if that is true or not.
I was told to eat exclusively the Low FODMAPS list foods and exclude all others. Have adhered to diet completely except for a couple of small goofs the first week but still have seen no improvements in any autoimmune/inflammatory symptoms.

My doctor thinks I have IBS in addition to IBD, since I'm in remission but still having some bothersome symptoms, so that's why he suggested this diet. Are you supposed to completely restrict high fodmap foods or can you just limit them so you're not eating it excessively?
I am in my fourth week of the Low FODMAPS diet. The version I was given in a printout by the nutritionist associated with my doctor's office does not agree with any other version out there on the web and is more restrictive than even the SIBO website; no grains or tubers of any kind in addition to all the other restrictions. So I don't know if my experience will be helpful.
So far, I have not experienced any improvement in any inflammatory symptoms, digestive or otherwise. I will probably stick it out another couple of weeks as my doctor firmly believes in it but from my own research, the diet is very successful for IBS but there is no data for IBD.
