Hi All. I was diagnosed with UC almost 10 years ago. Remicaid and divorce (rotten ex!) cured me and I have been symptom free and med free for about 5 years now...lucky me! Recent colonoscopy shows no active inflammation, but scarring from the long term inflammation in the past. My GI wants to put me on low dosage of anti-inflammatories to make sure low levels of inflammation (that are too low to even show any outward symptoms) don't raise my risk of developing colon cancer. I understand the risk of colon cancer doubles at about the 10 year mark where I am now, but I do not want to take pharmaceuticals, especially when I have no symptoms. Does anyone have any experience with this? I was hoping to manage this with food and natural remidies such as herbs/homeopathy but I won't really know if it's working without another colonoscopy which I won't need for another 2 years. Any advise is greatly appreciated!
